Gin, like all other spirits, took a back seat to rum in the world of tiki. Ironically, the repeal of prohibition helped gin back into the popular imagination while ushering a surplus of rum into tiki. But over the decades, gin made its way into classics like fog cutters, scorpions, and the Saturn. Today gin continues to shoulder its way into tiki drinks and culture with the help of creative mixologists. In a special symposium, Tim will introduce us to the history, flavors, and cultural impacts of gin since its creation centuries ago. He'll also cover its impact on tiki drinks and culture beginning mid-20th century and its growing role today. You don't have to be a big fan of gin to attend, but hopefully this insightful discussion will help turn you in that direction!
