FAQ
•What is "Inuhele Winter Break"? Is this the same Inuhele event I've attended in Atlanta before?
• How is it different?
• When and where?
• Tell me more!
• Age and Capacity limits?
1. Not exactly! Same great people, great vibe, smaller footprint, slightly more relaxed. Winter Break is planned as very relaxed tiki event with more time to hang out and enjoy a tiki oasis in the middle of winter. Put on by the gang that puts on the Atlanta Tiki Homebar Tour and Inuhele: Atlanta’s Tiki Weekend, “Inuhele Winter Break” is a different, lower-key event that harkens back to the tiki hotel takeovers of the early 2000’s. We’ll still have some surprises along with learning, shopping, singing, drinking, photoshoots and hanging out with the gang, but we’re going to take it easy on everyone’s cartilage and wallets for the next couple of years.
2. This is a whole different concept from “Inuhele: Atlanta’s Tiki Weekend”; don’t come expecting the fully built out space, or a zillion panels. Those will remain part of Atlanta’s Tiki Weekend, but Winter Break is designed to be lighter fare, lower price, and more chances for the Chaffin’s and our volunteers to have a quality hang with our friends from out of town.
There will be some sponsored hospitality, but no VIP track; mugs are going to be mostly pre-order only.
3. January 22 - 24, 2027! Where is it? We are headed back to everyone's favorite indoor courtyard and tropical pool paradise at the Courtland Grand. Book your room to hang out with the gang and enjoy relaxing with pool view rooms. (Also, to put a rumor to bed, we were not kicked out of the OMNI and were invited back, but load in was very difficult, and we already planned a scaled back event for life reasons).
4. Inuhele: Winter Break is 21+. A limited number of tickets will be sold to preserve the more intimate nature of the event.

1. We want to aid and abet people discovering the tiki love that is in Atlanta; homebars, bars and restaurants, and craftspeople/artists. Atlanta has vibrant tiki scene now and a rich Polynesian pop history.
2. We want to provide a quality event at base ticket price, with a limited number of premium add on experiences.
3. We want to break even and have fun. This event is not looking to make a profit. If profits are realized we will be using them to find more things for the next event.
4. We want to encourage real-life connection and interaction between any tikiphiles who want to show up and have a great time.
5. We want to inform and educate about the various scenes that compose tiki, but for us the most important thing is the sense of community and connection from attending a backyard luau thrown by a friend. We encourage a "big tent mentality."
6. We recognize mid-century modern/Polynesian pop as a specific American art style lasting from around 1933 to 1976 (excellently described and demarcated by Sven Kirsten in his book and including 'pre-tiki, beachcomber, tiki, and tiki devolution' styles.) We also recognize Tiki revival (1988-2000), Craft Cocktail (2000-2010), and "3rd wave" Tiki (2011-2018) as different, related scenes with their own features...I look forward to discussing them all with you endlessly! *(All time periods, facts, and times approximated)
