Jason started out his barkeeping career inside a coffee shop that he and his wife owned and operated in 2010. In many failed attempts to find his voice in the spirit world, it wasn’t until he discovered proper Mai Tais, Navy Grogs and Zombies that he found his true calling. Shortly thereafter the coffee shop gave way to a night time bar business where exotic drinks were prepared and consumed at an exponential rate. This led to the birth of the Tacoma Cabana and a more appropriate setting to delve deeper into exotic tiki drink making, rum collecting and a full on immersion into the lifestyle. It was here that Jason won Best Cocktails in Western Washington for 5 consecutive years while bringing home an Iron Tikitender title. But that was only the beginning. Enter Devil’s Reef...a dark nautical tiki concept masterminded by Jason and his wife to further explore the depths and boundaries of tiki drinks, exotic cocktails and rums. Enter 2020, after heavily exploring sugar cane spirits and dark, mysterious lore filled cocktails, a new adventure was laid out to reconnoiter the landscape of all that is juniper by opening a gin house amidst a global calamity. With the odds stacked against them, Gilman House was born in August of 2020 with the mission of bringing the world of gin to the people of Tacoma.

Michael Maurice’s calling towards tiki started long ago as a young child while sitting in the Enchanted Tiki Room at Disney. However, it wasn’t until moving to Atlanta in 2000 and discovering Trader Vic’s that it became apparent that tiki was a kind of a thing. Then with the launch of Tiki Central in the early 2000’s it was learned that there were many others into tiki as well. From there the rest is history and as a result was the build out of the home bar “The Enchanted Treehouse High on the Hooch” (3x stop on the Atlanta Tiki Tour) and the continual experimentation on making better ingredients for cocktails.
On his new album ‘The Wave Files’, Guitarmy of One guitarist Scott Helland conjures images of secret agents, high-speed chases, and hidden agendas through his intricate layered compositions. His mix of surf guitar techniques, such as reverb-drenched chords, lightning-fast tremolo picking, and tremolo bar vibrato via a Bigsby bridge pedal, creates a sonic landscape that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking. Combining the thrilling sounds of spy-themed instrumental surf guitar music with punk vitality, Guitarmy of One takes listeners on a sonic adventure to the realms of intrigue, danger, and surf-soaked excitement. Hailing from a background rooted in the rebellious energy of punk rock and thrash metal, Helland got his start playing bass guitar in the hardcore punk scene in the 80s and 90s with the band Deep Wound that he formed with J Mascis and Lou Barlow (now of Dinosaur jr). He also played with East Coast hardcore and crossover thrash stalwarts Outpatients, School of Violence and Darkside NYC. In 2005 formed the post-punk dark pop cabaret duo Frenchy and the Punk with French born singer Samantha Stephenson with whom he still tours. With Guitarmy of One, Helland channels that raw and unconventional spirit into a unique fusion of genres. Guitarmy of One’s live performances are a spectacle as the stage becomes a laboratory of sound, as layers of guitar riffs, bass lines, and percussion intertwine and overlap, creating a lush and dynamic musical tapestry. Armed with a guitar, loop pedals, drum pads and an array of effects pedals, Helland creates a symphony of sound right before your eyes.
