“Excuse me bartender, there is an equation in my drink.”
Have you ever wondered why some cocktails are just more pleasing to the eye and the palate than others? It could be because they are based on the Fibonacci sequence and golden ratio, two mathematical concepts that are found throughout nature and art.
In this talk, you will learn about the Fibonacci sequence and golden ratio and how they can be applied to cocktail making. You will also learn how to create your own cocktails using these principles. We will start by exploring the Fibonacci sequence, which is a series of numbers where each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers. The sequence goes: 1+1=2, 1+2=3, 2+3=5, 3+5=8 and so on. The golden ratio is the ratio between any two consecutive Fibonacci numbers. It is approximately equal to 1.618, and is often considered to be the most aesthetically pleasing ratio. What you will learn:
• The Fibonacci sequence and golden ratio
• How to apply these principles to cocktail making
• How to create your own Fibonacci cocktails
• The history of the Fibonacci sequence and golden ratio in mixology
• The science behind why the Fibonacci sequence and golden ratio are aesthetically pleasing
• The different ways to use the Fibonacci sequence and golden ratio in cocktail making, such as determining the proportions of ingredients, arranging the garnishes, and designing the cocktail glass
